When it comes to fitness it is important to be goal oriented, even if they are just small goals that you have set for yourself. When it comes to setting goals we use something called SMART goal setting. We use this goal setting method because it can help us to break up the important aspects of making a goal. SMART stands for specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound. It is important to set specific goals because it helps get a clear goal in your mind and actually makes them easier to stick to. Measurable means when setting a goal we need to have a way that we can tell when we reached the goal and if we are making progress towards the goal. Achievable looks at how difficult we make the goal, we do not want to make unrealistic goal that there is no chance that we can achieve it. Relevant means we need to make the goal have a purpose in our life. Finally time-bound means we need to have time period to when we are going to complete this goal. When it comes to goals there are two main types either short term or long term goals. It is important that we set both types, you can use short term goals to help you build up to a big long term goal. Some people may write out their goals to help them to stick to it but you do not need to do this, whatever will help you reach your goals the easiest is what you should do.
